Our First MAYO CLINIC Symposium Speakers For the Joint Meeting:
We are honored that Dr Hossein Gharib of the Mayo Clinic has accepted the invitation to be one of the Plenary Speakers upon the invitation of his former student, the AACE Phil President for 2011-2012, Dr Gerry H Tan.
He is presently a Professor of Medicine at the world famous Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and is a Past President of both the AACE and the American College of Endocrinology.
A world expert in Thyroid Disorders, Dr Gharib is author of several books and peer reviewed articles and has been giving lectures around the world.

Dr M Molly McMahon is a world expert in Nutrition, and presently a Professor of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic and is the Practice Chair of Nutrition at the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Nutrition at the same institution. She is also a:

Dr. Todd Nippoldt is consultant in the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Nutrition at the Mayo Clinic and a board-certified specialist in internal medicine and endocrinology and metabolism with special expertise in the area of hormone disorders affecting the pituitary and adrenal glands as well as the testes and ovaries. He has been a member of the Mayo Clinic staff since 1988.
This will be Dr Nippoldt's first visit to the Philippines upon the invitation of his former fellow in endocrinology at the Mayo Clinic, Dr Gerry Tan.
He is presently involved in andrology, the study of male hormonal disorders, male infertility and sexual dysfunction and is an assistant professor of medicine at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine.

Dr Robert A Wermers is a co fellow of our President Dr Gerry Tan and is presently an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine.
He did both his residency training in Internal Medicine and Fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the Mayo Clinic.
His research is primarily focused on Metabolic Bone Disease, Hyperparathyroidism and Osteoporosis including Neuroendocrine Tumours.

Our President Emeritus and Founder
Dr Augusto D Litonjua is called “Father of Philippine Endocrinology” for nothing. He founded the Philippine Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism(PSEM) in 1961; the AACE Philippines in 2004 and together with his ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) colleagues, has helped put up the ASEAN Federation of Endocrine Societies. He was the past president of the Philippine Diabetes Association(PDA) for 11 years and also spearheaded the establishment of the Philippine Center for Diabetes Education Foundation Inc., more popularly known as the Diabetes Center, Philippines, where he is currently president.
His contributions in the field of Philippine Endocrinology has earned him the prestigious award – the Outstanding Service Award for the Promotion of Endocrine Health of an Underserved Population – given by the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists in April 2007 in Seattle, Washington and recently the International Clinician Award from the same society in April of 2011.
Dr. Litonjua is Emeritus Professor of the College of Medicine, University of the Philippines (UP). He retired as Professor and Chairman of Physiology and Clinical Professor of Medicine and Chief of Endocrinology, Department of Medicine in 1986.
